Why California Drivers Ed Will Never be the Same Again

January 28th, 2008 · No Comments

California now allows parents to allow their kids to take the California driver education course online. This is a great benefit to both the teen and their parents for many reasons. No longer do parents have to leave work or take time out of their busy schedules to transfer their kid to and from driver education class. The teen can now sit at home and take the course over the Internet. In addition, for those kids who live in remote areas, taking this course online is a groovy alternative to driving miles to get to a class.

The law states that teens must be at least fifteen and a half to receive their learner’s permit. A good thing to do is enroll into a state approved California driver education course when you first turn fifteen. This way you are ready to drive when you do obtain your permit. You must keep this permit for six months and have completed fifty hours of behind the wheel training, in addition to completing the online course to fully finish the driver education program. Once the fifty hours are completed, you must then spend at least six hours behind the wheel with a state approved instructor.

The major advantage of taking driver education online is that it allows students to work at their own pace. This completely eliminates any added pressure that maybe added when in a classroom environment. This also allows teens to fully understand the course’s curriculum instead of being rushed along. Working at home enables parents to interact with their kids as they complete the multimedia format training which uses text, audio, graphics, and video to enforce learning objectives. Basically, a parent can be involved in the entire process of their child learning how to drive in a safe and normal manner.
